Moran et al developed the environmental stress index (ESI) to help evaluate heat stress. The index correlates with wet bulb globe temperature (WBGT) and uses relative humidity and solar radiation. The authors are from the Heller Institute of Medical Research in Tel Hashomer, Israel, and the US Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine in Natick, Massachusetts.
